Combining modern dance, performance and falconry display the Eagle Dance was choreographed to sound tracks by the experimental band Bender. Inspired by Marcel Broodthaers Musée d’Aigle and early performance art, most notably Marina Abramovic and Rebecca Horn, the concept also playfully engages with Deleuze’s notion of ‘becoming animal’. Both dancers employ their training in contact dance to improvise movements similar to that of birds. The Falconry birds were part of the choreography and also appeared in another iteration of The Eagle Document, the live performance in 2007 at the James Hockey and Foyer Galleries in Farnham.
