Pause was filmed during a break in the change over of the stage set at the Schauspiel Staatstheater Stuttgart, Germany. The work shows a moment in the early stages, at a point where the stage set of the previous days performance is dismantled and the stage apparatus changed in preparation for the new stage set.

The work was filmed with a static camera on the theatre’s rotating stage, which was operated especially for the filming and shows some of the previous performance’s props still in place.
